The ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship and Opportunity Programme ESOP 2027 provides a scholarship of CHF 13500 per semester plus a full tuition fee waiver for regular Master’s programmes.
About 60 awards are planned for students starting in autumn 2027. The award covers the regular duration of the Master’s, three or four semesters.
You apply for ESOP inside the same eApply form used for Master’s admission. There is no separate scholarship portal.
Benefits
Winners receive CHF 13500 per semester for living and study costs from the autumn 2027 semester onward. Tuition fees are waived for the normal length of the degree.
Mentorship and access to the ETH Foundation network are included. The award is for regular Master’s programmes only, not MAS.
Eligibility
You need a very good Bachelor’s result, self assessed as top 10 percent or grade A. You must not already hold a Master’s degree and must not already be enrolled in an ETH Master’s.
You apply for an eligible regular Master’s programme at ETH Zurich. Swiss and international applicants who meet the admission rules are considered.
How to Apply
Submit your Master’s application through the eApply portal during the first window, 1 to 30 November 2026, 11:59 MEZ. Include the ESOP materials in the same form.
A short pre proposal is required. Keep the telephone number on your CV current because a phone or video interview may occur in February.
Decisions are communicated at the end of March. Admission is separate from the scholarship decision.
Check the official page for the full process and any updates: ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship and Opportunity Programme.
Important Notes
The window is only the first Master’s application round. Missing it means you cannot apply for ESOP for this intake. Always verify the latest requirements on the ETH site.
