About the Role
India Chaat House and Restaurant is looking for a hardworking Kitchen Helper to clean, stock, and maintain the kitchen as well as assist with the preparation of meal ingredients in White Rock, BC. The ideal candidate should have sound knowledge of Indian cuisine including Tandoor, Indian Curries, and Indo-Chinese dishes. LMIA and PR application assistance is available for deserving candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of Tandoor, Indian Curries, and Indo-Chinese dishes
- Prepare meal ingredients including washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing
- Retrieve ingredients from the refrigerator, freezer, and stockroom as instructed
- Measure ingredients as per the cook’s instructions
- Assist kitchen staff to unload food supplies from delivery trucks
- Properly wash and dry all dishes, utensils, cooking instruments, and cutting boards
- Neatly store all utensils, cooking instruments, dishes, and cutting boards in their respective places
- Pack take-out orders as needed
- Remove leftovers from patrons’ plates, bowls, and glasses
- Remove garbage, replace garbage bags, and wash garbage cans
- Mop and sweep kitchen areas as required
- Store ingredients and food items according to food safety standards
- Ensure all work areas are properly sanitised at all times
- Remove expired or spoiled ingredients from storage promptly
Requirements
Education
- No formal education required
Experience
- Cooking: 2 years (preferred)
- Tandoor Dishes & Naan: 2 years (preferred)
- Indian Curries: 2 years (preferred)
Skills and Attributes
- Sound knowledge of proper food handling procedures
- Ability to follow all food health and safety regulations
- Exceptional organisational skills to ensure timely completion of kitchen duties
- Hardworking, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Work Schedule
- Part-time hours: 20 hours per week minimum
