Top Companies to Work for in Nigeria and Who They Hire

Grace Blessed3 min read70

The most recognised workplace rankings in Nigeria for 2026 come from Great Place to Work, which named PremiumTrust Bank, FSDH Merchant Bank, Providus Bank, Cordros Capital and CSCS among the best workplaces in banking and financial services. Those employers are a useful starting list if you want a company that rates its own culture well. Rankings are only one signal, so we also look at pay, training and progression. CMA9ja reviews these lists as new ones are published.

Choosing an employer is a big decision, especially if you are a fresh graduate. A good ranking is a start, but you still need to check the role, the location and the opportunities for growth.

How this list was built

The Great Place to Work 2026 lists for banking, financial services and wellbeing were covered by press in September and October 2026. We found older lists from LinkedIn (2023) and Jobberman (2016), but those are too old to treat as current evidence, so we have not used them here.

Banks and financial services

  • PremiumTrust Bank ranked first among banks in the 2026 Great Place to Work list. Check the official PremiumTrust Bank website for its current careers page and its graduate trainee programme.
  • FSDH Merchant Bank ranked second among banks, and it is also highly rated for wellbeing.
  • Providus Bank ranked third among banks. Its careers page is at providusbank.com/careers, and the bank also appears in the wellbeing list.
  • Cordros Capital ranked first among financial services firms in the 2026 list.
  • CSCS Nigeria ranked third among financial services firms.

Engineering and technology employers

  • Schneider Electric Nigeria was named among medium sized Best Workplaces in Nigeria in 2025. Its 2027 graduate programme is a 24 month role based in Lagos, and the company says it will start in February 2027. The application is open until the place is filled, so do not wait too long.
  • Cisco Nigeria ranked fifth in the 2026 wellbeing list. Its job listings are at jobs.cisco.com, and you can filter them for Lagos roles.

What employers usually ask for

Graduate programmes in banks and corporate firms often ask for a degree of at least 2:2 or 2:1, your NYSC completion certificate and a clear work history. Engineering and technology employers often look for a relevant degree in engineering or computing. Always read the exact requirements on the official notice, because they change each year.

How to apply without getting scammed

Jobberman’s safe job hunting guidance warns candidates about several common tricks:

  1. Pressure to act immediately with false urgency.
  2. Requests for upfront fees for certification, background checks or set up.
  3. Requests for your bank details, card number or PIN.
  4. Schemes that ask you to receive money and pass on a share.
  5. Interview invitations that do not match the company’s official address.

Apply only through the official careers page, and check the email domain on any message you receive.

What to look at beyond the ranking

  • The role itself, and whether it matches your training.
  • Pay and benefits, stated clearly in the offer.
  • Training, mentoring and the chance to move up.
  • The location, and whether you need to relocate.
  • How current employees talk about the workplace, on platforms they use themselves.

A top ranking tells you how a company treats its people on average, but the role you are offered decides your next two years.
